Huayna Picchu

Lisa on steps of Huayna Picchu

The Inca built steep, narrow steps near the top of the peak by the terraces of Huayna Picchu. You need to walk down them sideways.

Machu Picchu Ruins

Huayna Picchu, the peak in the background that overlooks Machu Picchu, is what we hiked on our second day here. We made it to the top early in the morning before the crowds arrived. We said our prayers for Richard's grandpa and Lynn Hellmuth's mother who both passed away recently. Thoughts of the rest of our family were forward in our minds. Truly the most spiritual setting imaginable.

You might be able to notice the agricultural terracing carved into the peak. Amazing! I suggest that you all make a pilgrammage here at some point in your life.
