Brock and Maddy participated in their first chess tournament. Brock was in his element and sailed through the tournament with 4 wins. His only loss was to the eventual champion. Brock took 3rd place and qualified for the state tournament! Maddy was quite the trooper as she was sick up until the morning of the tourney. She played most of her matches to the time limit before losing. The last match she led by several pieces, including having 2 queens. She was given the choice of playing on, but missing the Easter egg hunt, or resigning. Always the good sport, she took one for the family and chose the Easter egg hunt. We credit it her with the win because if the tournament stayed on schedule, there would have been time for her to complete that win.
