For his 6th birthday, Dane had a Hogwarts-themed party. Mom spent a few weeks creating a homemade party complete with Owl invitations and garbage bag cloaks. A church basement in our neighborhood was transformed into Hogwarts School. The kids visited Olivanders to make their wands, were sorted into houses, and attended classes (Potions, Transfigurations, Defense Against Dark Arts, Divination and Magical Creatures. A gak or flubber love potion was created by the kids. Mexican Jumping Beans were given out as magical creatures. Next was the Yule Ball where they learned how to dance the waltz and steps to some standard wedding disco or rock songs. To close out the party, they popped over to Honeydukes to pick out candy, including chocolate frogs, and on to Three Broomsticks for a golden snitch birthday cake.
