Mission accepted. Locate the four Ionic columns on campus, known as the Four Columns. They serve as the backdrop for the University of Washington stage at convocation and commencement. They were saved from the first UW building which was constructed in 1861. The original building site was downtown Seattle at the corner of what is now 4th and University Street. The rest of the building was razed in 1908. The columns were named Loyalty, Industry, Faith, and Efficiency (LIFE) by Ewdward S. Meany and Herbert T. Condon in 1911. The Four Columns are now located on campus at Sylvan Grove.
