We spent 2 weeks on vacation in London. The flight was on Icelandair where we found the bathrooms in the airport very interesting. We stayed at a large carriage house in the Maida Vale area of St. Johns Wood in central London. Our lodging was a couple blocks from where the Beatles Abbey Road album cover was taken. A phantom critter tormented us almost nightly by scratching about outside in the wee hours of the night. Still, it was an wonderful house in a fantastic location. We were intending to take a couple day trips outside of London, but with so much to do in the city we stayed there the whole time. Highlights included witnessing the Ceremony of the Keys at the Tower of London, Jack the Ripper tour, Harry Potter studio tour, a Thames River RIB tour, ride on the London eye, traveling on the Tube, visits to Westminster Abbey, Highgate Cemetery, British Museum, Buckingham Palace, Picadilly Circus, and Trafalgar Square, visiting Amy Winehouse's and Benjamin Franklin's homes, and seeing Wicked at a West End theatre. We enjoyed eating spicy pickles, fish and chips, mushy peas, Marks and Spencer coffee rolls, Galaxy chocolate. We enjoyed watching a couple British tv programs named Top Gear and Dinner Date. The owners of the Abbey Cafe across the street from our house were very sweet and kept us supplied with baked goods. We met two co-workers of Richard's at a Maida Vale park where Roger Bannister trained for breaking the 4-minute mile.
