Beaufort Boil

BEAUFORT BOIL

Ingredients:

  • 3 Tbsp Old Bay Seasoning
  • 1 bag Crab Boil
  • 3 Tbsp Salt
  • 1 1/2 gallons Water
  • 1 lb. baby Red Potatoes
  • 2 lbs. Keilbasa or smoked sausage
  • 12 ears shucked Corn broken in half
  • 4 lbs. Shrimp in shells
  • Cocktail sauce
  • small bowl of melted Butter
  • Optional: 1 lb. Clams and Mussels in shells
  • Optional: Crab meat chunks
  • Optional: 1 bottle Beer
  • Directions:

    • In a large stock pot, add Old Bay Seasoning, Crab Boil, Beer to the water and bring to a boil.

    • Add sausage and potatoes. Boil, uncovered, 5 minutes.

    • Add corn and count five minutes (begin counting immediately, don't wait until water is boiling).

    • Add shrimp, clams, mussels, crab meat and count 3 minutes. Clams and mussels are cooked when shell are open. Drain immediately.

    • Spread newspaper across table and dump food in a big pile on table. Use fingers to eat. Have lots of napkins available.

    • Serve with Cocktail sauce and melted butter for dipping. Sprinkle extra Old Bay Seasoning over food to make it more spicy. Serves 8.

    • IMPORTANT: Do not eat any clams or mussels where the shells are closed.
