National Underwear Day was founded in August 2003. Since that time, it has become a grand scale annual event featuring underwear runway shows at the center of Times Square in New York City. We celebrated National Underwear Day G-Pod-style with a rousing game of 500 in our alley much to the amusment of our neighbors.

National Underwear Day became part of family lore in 2007 when a 3-year old Dane attempted to join in on the fun without thinking about the ramifications. Maddy and Brock were in their parents bedrooms donning underwear on their heads. Dane wanted to join in. Papa told Dane to go get some underwear, so he took off into his room. A couple minutes went by and no Dane. Finally, he appeared back in our room with a goofy grin and underwear on his head. Funny thing though, he had nothing on his lower body. Papa asked why he wasn't wearing clothes. Surprise! As he couldn't find a fresh pair, instead he put on his dirty underwear, stripe and all, on his head. No rubbing this little stinker's head for luck!
